1990

Dustin Miller.jpeg

By 1990, NASA had decided to remove the Apollo 1 spacecraft from the Langley Research Center storage container and drop it into one of the empty missile silos at the Kennedy Space Center. As of 2023 the spacecraft remains at Langley. Photo shows the final resting place of the shuttle "Challenger" in silo 32B at the Cape." Silo 32B was active from 1961 to 1970 as a launching site for Minuteman Missiles I, II and III. Fifty-three launches

were conducted from this site.
