Rick Boos conducted an extensive
one year investigation, circa 1980,
into the July 21, 1961 sinking
of the Liberty Bell 7. This suborbital flight was piloted by Virgil "Gus" Grissom who was blamed by many to have caused the loss of his capsule. Mr. Boos, in the original documents that follow, emphatically proves that Grissom did not accidentally or purposely activate the handle to blow the hatch.
Mr. Boos produced this excellently written report prior to the internet era, that is to say, he relied on paper, pens, typewriters, tape recorders, long distance telephone calls, United States Postal Service, libraries, books and magazine articles to conduct his investigation.
By the 21st century Rick was proven to be correct. I have pieced together his notes into a presentable format for use by our visitors and future aerospace historians. LET'S EXPLORE!
